Last updated on April 13th, 2019 at 09:22 am

303 Fabric Guard is perhaps the most powerful protectant that you will find to keep your car’s convertible top looking like new! The 303 spray works great on most any fabric, not just convertible tops. It’s versatility is unmatched. Below you will find my 303 Fabric Guard review, instructions on how to best use the product, as well as from which retailers in the U.S. and Canada from where you can buy it.

303 Fabric Guard Review

When thinking about doing a 303 Fabric Guard review, I thought it was only fair to test out the competition, as well. Over the years, I have used many products, but there were still a few I hadn’t. From my recent testing of those remaining products, 303 Fabric Guard still stands out as the best.

303 fabric guard review

Let’s first take a look at a few of the reasons why 303 Fabric Guard is superior to the competition.

303 does not use silicone. Silicone does repel water just as good as 303 protectant, but 303 Fabric Guard goes beyond just repelling water. This product also repels grease, soil, dust, and oil. On the contrary, silicone products do more to attract soil and dust due to their greasy film like finish. 303 Fabric Guard can last up to 3 years on some fabrics, while silicone products only last about 2-3 months on average. The 303 product has a very mild odor, whereas silicone usually has a strong pungent smell. 303 is completely odorless once it dries.

No other product can repel stains and spots as well as 303. By restoring a higher level of water repllency, the 303 Guard is able to resist mildew and soiling and mildew. In other words, you won’t have to worry about water spots or stains on your fabric.

Versatility. 303 Fabric Guard can protect any cleaned outdoor or new fabrics from grease, sun damage, and water. Among the outdoor fabrics that can be protected are biminis, boating enclosures, cloth car carpets and seats, and canvas convertible tops. 303 can also be used on some indoor fabrics, such as silk, fine leather, sporting apparel, and shoes.

303 is equally good for boats, as it is for cars. It is particularly useful for sail boat owners, as it provides excellent sail protection. I highly recommend 303 for anybody who owns a boat.

Fabric Guard, like most 303 products, features a UV screen which helps to deter the damaging effects of the sun.

In addition to this glowing 303 Fabric Guard review, even more impressive, several industry leaders recommend 303 Fabric care. They include Dickson, Sunbrella,  and several other manufacturers of marine canvas, awnings, and patio furniture. 303 Fabric Guard Instructions

For best results, we have found that it is better to apply 303 Fabric Guard in two light applications, rather than one heavy application. According to the 303 Fabric Guard instructions, you should apply it when the temperature range is 50-105°F. As with most any type of spray product, you should avoid sparks, heat, smoking, and any open flames, and of course work only in a well ventilated area. The 303 Fabric Guard instructions state that the product is flammable until it is dry. We also recommend that you wear protective clothing when applying, to avoid contact with eyes and skin.

From my experience, 303 Fabric Guard is best when applied to fabrics that are new, as well as on fabrics that have been cleaned recently. This will help prevent future stains and soiling. The 303 will adhere best to dry and clean fabric fibers. Note that the fabric surface should be fully dry before applying, and I found it best when I applied the Fabric Guard in full sun on a warm, lightly breezy day. How much 303 spray you use will depend on the material treated. A 16 oz. spray bottle of 303 will treat approximately 50-75 sq. ft. of heavy fabric, such as marine canvas. While thinner, lighter fabrics, will naturally use less of the product is needed.

Any over-spray can and should be cleaned up immediately with a paper towel or microfiber cloth. Be careful to not get any over-spray on plastics, vinyl, metals, or wood finishes.

303 fabric guard instructions

Before fully applying the 303, you will want to test the colorfastness of the carpet or other material by applying the product in an small, unnoticeable area first, and then wiping that spot while the 303 spray is still wet to verify if there is any color transfer or not. The 303 Fabric Guard instructions say to clean the material that you will be treating and let it completely dry before spraying the product on. You should hold the spray nozzle tip 8-12″ from the material and spray evenly across the surface. Be sure to only apply to the exposed side of the material. Be careful not to over-saturate!! We found it was best to let the product dry between applications. The final application of 303 should take about 8-12 hours to dry and cure on most fabrics. 12-24 hours may be required for complete drying on carpet.

303 Fabric Guard Gallon

Most users will find the 16 ounce or 32 ounce sizes of 303 Fabric Guard to be adequate. However, for professional users there is the 303 Fabric Guard gallon. The 303 Fabric Guard gallon size offers both value and convenience for heavy users of the product. You may have a harder time finding the gallon size at your local retailer, but most online retailers will offer the 303 Fabric Guard gallon size. Of course, you can always conveniently find it on our 303 products order page.

303 High Tech Fabric Guard

Some folks refer to 303 Fabric Guard as “303 High Tech Fabric Guard“. If you come across this while researching the product online, know that they are referring to the same thing. Some people are simply so amazed at the results that they got from the product, that they figure it must be some sort of high tech formulation. I guess they’re right, in a way. 303 High Tech Fabric Guard is a well deserved nickname for the product. Anything that works this well must have some great technology built into it. Either way, I prefer to stick with 303 Fabric Guard vs 303 High Tech Fabric Guard, as that is the original and official name of the product.

303 Fabric Guard Canada Recall

If you’re looking to pick up some 303 Fabric Guard Canada, perhaps the cheapest and easiest place to find it is Amazon. We scoured the net looking for retailers where you could get 303 Fabric Guard Canada, and we did find a few, but Amazon consistently had the best selection and lowest prices. Costco.ca also had it, but it was less expensive at Amazon.
